Second Grade Milestone Celebration to include service of the Lord’s Supper

On March 1, 2020 at 9:45 a.m. second graders and their parents will gather in Stanford Chapel with Pastor Sarah Bird to celebrate and participate in a service of the Lord’s Supper. March 10 will be our second Buddy Sunday in this school year. Buddy Sunday is a time when older and younger children get to meet each other and begin to build recognition and  community through prayer and sharing a Bible story together. Our goal for this day is for older children to act as mentors to the younger children and for younger children to meet older children to include in their faith community.

We invite  the children to pray for each other during the week following Buddy Sunday. Children will bring home a Buddy Book which names their new church friend.

Milestone Celebration March 4th

March 4th from 9:45-10:45 A.M. in Stanford Chapel in the Cheek House

Families of the Second Grade Ephesians Group are invited to come join their children in the Chapel for a Milestone Celebration: Exploring the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.

Through a special 3 week unit of study offered in Sunday School, children have been exploring the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as they give thanks, remember and celebrate the redemptive act offered by Jesus on the cross. These lessons now culminate with Sunday’s celebration with a special worship service with communion, led by Pastor Todd for children and their parents.

This milestone symbol is marked by a loaf of bread and a cup, reminding us that the meal we celebrate is in remembrance of Christ’s redeeming act on the cross.

For resources on this Milestone visit our Milestone Page.

Buddy Sunday – Dec. 3, 2017

On Dec 3, the older children visited the young groups of Sunday School. They shared a scripture then were paired up with a buddy to talk about the scripture and get to know each other. Great things happened when young children and older children met. Older children found the role of buddy leader to be fun to fulfill. Younger children were pleased to have the attention of an older child. Each child now has the name of another child to pray for and look for on Sunday mornings.

6th Grade visited with the 2nd Grade:

October 15 to be a Day of Service during the Sunday School hour

Other groups will have other service projects for the community and our church including helping with preparations for our family Advent Devotions. Join us on this day as we service the Lord with joy-filled hearts.

Moon, Faith, Love and Grace (ages 3-6) will meet in CW 111

Grades 1-3 will meet in The Computer Lab- CC 140

Grades 4-6 will meet in Grundy Hall.

Kick-Off for Children’s Sunday School Groups is August 20

Welcome!   We hope the summer offered lots of opportunity to relax, travel, and renew.  We’re ready to begin our communities of belonging with our children each Sunday morning.  Groups age 3 through 6th grade study the Bible together and grow as disciples as they pray, serve, play, and care for each other.   Babies and toddlers have a fun time in our loving Nursery playing and hearing a Bible story, too.

The Sunday School hour for children is 9:45-10:45 A.M.   Families will receive an e-mail with their child’s group and room assignment prior to August 20.   We ask that parents escort their children to their group on this Kick-Off day and offer a hello/thanks to the great group of leaders who will be journeying with your child for the next 10 months.

Starting at 10:00 A.M. we are hosting a breakfast for parents in Courtenay Hall.   You’ll have time to visit with friends, make new friends, and enjoy Kim’s great cooking.

Relationships matter!
