Parent Information Gathering for families with four year olds

On Sunday, April 5 at 9:35 a.m. parents with children who were three in August 2019 will meet to talk with Sunday School leaders about what your child has been learning this year. This is a great time to learn in what ways our faith community supports you as your child ages out of the nursery this summer and next fall.

We hope you will join us for this time of conversation and fellowship. The Gathering will conclude by 10:00 so you have time to get to your Sunday school group as well.

Milestone Celebration for Moon group (3 year old) – October 6

Our three year olds in the Moon group will receive a gift Bible on October 6, 2019 as part of their Milestone Celebration.  Three year olds and their parents will gather in Grundy Hall at 9:45 to gather and create  materials to use in a worship space at home. Families will create a worship mat and a collection of finger plays. The children will receive a copy of The Read and Learn Bible to use at home for family worship and reading.

Nursery Care for Our Youngest (3 and younger)

At First Presbyterian Church we welcome new babies (6 weeks or older) into our Nursery throughout the year!   We have two rooms set aside for infant care, our Wee Angels and Baby Doves.   Babies who are at least 6 weeks old are welcomed and cared for by our loving Nursery Staff, while parents can enjoy worship and Sunday School classes each Sunday morning.

Our one-year old toddlers are in the Little Lambs group, two’s are in the Rainbow group, and three’s are in the Moon group. A reminder that placement is determined by age as for August 15, 2019.  And we do not age-up our children until Kick-Off 2020.   We believe it is important for children to build relationships their care providers and other children in their group.

Nursery Care is available during the 8:30 worship service in the Sanctuary, 9:45 to coincide with Sunday School (for all ages),  and both the 11:00 worship services, Sanctuary and The Table in the Gathering Place.

Visit the Children’s Welcome Desk for a warm welcome.   We use a computerized check-in system and the children are cared for in secured space; safety is a top priority.

Buddy Sunday on November 4

Nov 4 is Buddy Sunday; a time when older and younger children get to meet each other and begin to build recognition and  community through prayer and sharing a Bible story together. Our goal for this day is for older children to act as mentors to the younger children and for younger children to meet older children to include in their faith community.

The Moon Group (3 year olds) will meet with the Ephesians  group (2nd graders) during Sunday School.

We invite  the children to pray for each other during the week. Children will bring home a Buddy Book which names their new church friend.

Children’s Sunday School Kick-Off

Sunday, August 19, will begin another 10-month season of Sunday School, a community of belonging for our children.  Prior to the 19th, you will receive an e-mail with details about your child(ren)’s leader, small group & room assignment, etc.   Leaders are already praying for your child(ren)!   We encourage you to escort your child(ren) to their rooms and greet their leaders.

Once your child(ren) are settled, parents are invited to Courtenay Hall where a breakfast will be hosted by Pastor Josh Rodriguez.   A great time for fellowship, food, and some spiritual uplifting through Josh’s message.
