All God’s Children Sing – Palm Sunday, March 25

On Palm Sunday, March 25th, Sunday School children will participate in worship, singing the Introit together. The Psalmist said, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”  That’s what All God’s Children Sing is about; all children making a joyful sound to praise and worship God.

  • Sunday School leaders will walk children (groups Moon to 6th grade) directly to the Sanctuary at 10:45 (the end of  Sunday School).
  • After the children sing, they will join their parents in the pews for worship.
  • Front rows will be reserved for families with children in the Moon, Faith, Love and Grace groups so children can find parents easily.
  • Families with children in the Moon group (our 3’s); We will bring your children with the rest of the groups.  In the Sanctuary, you are welcome to remain on or near the risers if needed.

If it is not possible for your child to participate, please meet her/him in the Sanctuary before the 11:00 service begins and let their Sunday School leader know prior to leaving.  Thank you.

It will be a joyful day of praising God.

Our First Sung Offering of 2018

The children’s choirs brought joy to many hearts last Sunday with an arrangement of the spiritual, “Is There Anybody Here?” With help from faithful parents putting on robes, one of our adult choir members accompanying on piano, and the lovely directorship of Ms. Brianna and Ms. Kelly, we were able to bring our first sacrifice of praise of 2018 into our congregation’s worship!

On Palm Sunday, 3/25, our choristers will serve as leaders as all the Sunday School children sing to usher in the congregation’s “Hosannas” at the 11 am service. Please join us for Sunday afternoon rehearsals before then!

Confirmation Special Vespers Service

Vesper Worship Service on March 4th at the Five-Thirty Service

Over the past few Sundays, the confirmands have been writing the Vesper’s worship service that they will lead on Sunday, March 4, at The Five-Thirty service.

Each confirmand will have a role in the service, so their participation is important.

There will be opportunity for both instrumentalists and vocalists to provide some of the music, too.

Please make note of these details:

  • Families are invited to the Vesper’s service, which begins at 5:25 PM on March 4  in The Gathering Place.
  • Confirmands need to arrive (to The Gathering Place) no later than 4:30 PM for practice with their leaders.
  • Following the service, there will be a fellowship time with hot chocolate and cookies.   Sign up HERE to help provide cookies.
  • After refreshments, parents will gather with Adam DeVries and Anna Wheeler, of our Youth Ministry, to learn important information about making that transition, as well as providing Adam and Anna with insights about your soon-to-be Youth.
  • While parents meet, Confirmands and their leaders will join with their Officer Friends (deacons & elders of the church) to play some get-to-know you games and exchange prayer requests.
  • We will dismiss no later than 7:30 PM

Milestone Celebration March 4th

March 4th from 9:45-10:45 A.M. in Stanford Chapel in the Cheek House

Families of the Second Grade Ephesians Group are invited to come join their children in the Chapel for a Milestone Celebration: Exploring the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.

Through a special 3 week unit of study offered in Sunday School, children have been exploring the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as they give thanks, remember and celebrate the redemptive act offered by Jesus on the cross. These lessons now culminate with Sunday’s celebration with a special worship service with communion, led by Pastor Todd for children and their parents.

This milestone symbol is marked by a loaf of bread and a cup, reminding us that the meal we celebrate is in remembrance of Christ’s redeeming act on the cross.

For resources on this Milestone visit our Milestone Page.

New Children’s Choir Schedule, Calling Parent Volunteers!

The Children’s Choirs have our new schedule for the rest of the semester – praises be! You can find it here: Children’s Choir Schedule Spring 2018, Revised.

For our choir rehearsals to be safe and our choir directors to keep their sanity, we need at least 2 parents each week to stay and help from 4-5 pm while your children are singing and learning.

Parents, please Sign Up Here for at least one Sunday during the Spring! It’s as easy as sitting and singing with Ms. Brianna or Ms. Kelly and the kiddos, and it’s essential for our program to run.

Our next singing date is March 4th during the 8:30 service! Hope to see you there!

Children’s Choir Spring Changes

Hello everyone, our children’s choir program is undergoing some serious growth and change this semester! As the Children’s Choir Coordinator, I want to keep everyone in the loop and get feedback from all parties involved. Read on!

    – Rachel

  1. The scheduled singing for this Sunday, 2/11 has been cancelled, but we WILL have choir rehearsal in the afternoon from 4-5 pm, in preparation for our next sing on Sunday, 3/4 at the 8:30 am service.
  2. I am trying to text parents the most important/time-sensitive scheduling information. If you haven’t received a text about this Sunday and want to receive texts, contact me.
  3. We are working on a new, finalized rehearsal/performance schedule to be published soon. We’ll let you know about that here on the blog, in the Children’s Dept Friday E-newsletter, and we’ll have paper copies at rehearsal.

That’s all for now!

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!” – Psalm 95:1
